Major Democrat Donor Arrested on Awful Charges

In a startling exhibition of leftist double standards, a well-known trial lawyer from Texas and significant donor to the Democratic Party has been charged with a misdemeanor following an assault on a family member, which culminated in a call to the Houston police and the left-leaning Texan being incarcerated.

To provide context, Eric Dick, a lawyer based in Houston and a trustee on the board of the Harris County Department of Education, was apprehended on March 7 after he struck a family member, later identified as his wife. However, scant information has been disclosed regarding the specifics of the assault and the injuries inflicted by Mr. Dick.

Moreover, Mr. Dick’s political affiliations have been a point of contention even prior to his arrest, as he serves in office as a Republican while having contributed $30,750 to support Democrats in the upcoming 2024 election, including a notable $25,000 donation to the Community Justice PAC, an organization dedicated to electing Democratic judicial candidates.

In a statement to Houston Public Media, a spokesperson for the Houston Police Department provided additional details regarding Mr. Dick’s arrest, stating, “At approximately 5:40 a.m. on March 7, a 39-year-old female reported that she had an argument with him, during which she was pushed to the ground and punched,” the spokesperson explained. “He subsequently locked himself in the bathroom. We were able to persuade him to come out, and he informed the officer that they had both been arguing, after which he was taken into custody.”

Following the incident, Mr. Dick reached out to The Houston Landing via email, offering a public apology. He expressed, “I love (the alleged victim) with all of my heart and am sorry for any embarrassment that I caused her,” and was subsequently released without the necessity of posting bail.

In a subsequent email reply to Houston Public Media, Dick conveyed additional regret regarding the incident, stating, “I deeply regret any embarrassment I may have caused [my wife],” as noted in his statement. “Marriage is challenging, and I recognize that being married to a workaholic lawyer is particularly difficult. [My wife] is, and will always remain, the love of my life.”

Mr. Dick’s recent arrest marks not his first brush with legal issues. On May 29, 2024, the Hawaii Attorney General’s office filed charges against Mr. Dick and his law firm, alleging unauthorized practice of law and attempted unauthorized practice of law, both classified as misdemeanors. Dick has reportedly entered a plea of not guilty.

Furthermore, Mr. Dick is presently under legal examination following the submission of a court affidavit signed by an individual who has allegedly been deceased for ten months. In response, one of Dick’s associates informed the media that it was a case of “mistaken identity,” clarifying that the signer was actually the son of the deceased, who shares the same name. At this time, Mr. Dick’s law firm has not formally addressed a show cause order submitted on February 18, 2025, as a consequence of the affidavit.
