Liz Warren Gets Fact-Checked and Called Out for “Trying to Use” the Wildfires Disaster “To Raise Money for Democrats”

Senator Elizabeth Warren faced significant backlash online for attempting to solicit funds for the Democratic Party disguised as a fundraiser for wildfire relief in Los Angeles. This prompted users on X to call her out and fact-check her apparent falsehoods, resulting in yet another embarrassment for the well-known Democrat.

To provide context, on January 11, 2025, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) posted on X, urging her followers to contribute to aid those impacted by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. She claimed that all funds raised would be directed to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles. However, she neglected to mention that the donations were being processed through ActBlue, a fundraising platform for the Democratic Party that reportedly retains a 4% fee from any funds raised via its online service.

In her message, Senator Warren encouraged her followers to “help support the communities around L.A. being devastated by the wildfires,” and asked, “Can you split a donation between the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles?” She asserted, “100% of your donation will go directly to these organizations.” Nevertheless, shortly after her post went live, users on X utilized the Community Notes feature to highlight the senator’s dishonesty.

Just hours following Senator Warren’s fundraising request, conservative influencer ALX shared a post indicating that the senator had been “called out by Community Notes for trying to use the Los Angeles Wildfires to raise money for Democrats.” Additionally, ALX included a screenshot of Senator Warren’s post with a Community Note stating, “This is not a link to a charity. It is a link to a Democrat fundraising platform.”

Moreover, the Community Note clarified that ActBlue takes “3.95% of all transactions,” and suggested, “You can donate directly to these charities,” providing links to donation portals for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Significantly, this incident was not the sole occasion when Senator Warren was exposed for a blatant falsehood by conservatives. Following an interview on the podcast “Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso” on April 20, 2025, the senator encountered backlash from conservatives after she attempted to assert that there had been no deterioration in former President Joe Biden’s mental sharpness, stating, “I had not seen decline.”

In reaction to the senator’s assertion, Fragoso inquired, “You think [Biden was as sharp as you?” This question evidently caused the senator considerable discomfort, as she began to shudder and laugh nervously. She endeavored to reinforce her statement by adding, “You know the…the thing is, he, look, he was sharp, he was on his feet, I saw him [at a] live event, I had meetings with him a couple of times.”

When the PBD Podcast X account disseminated a clip of Senator Warren misrepresenting President Biden’s mental acuity, the senator faced severe criticism in the comments section. One commenter, using the handle Sidy, remarked that Democrats like Warren “simply do whatever is necessary for their party’s survival AT THE EXPENSE of Americans’ safety and wellbeing.”
