WATCH: Bruising Appears on Trump’s Hand Ahead of Pittsburgh Visit

During a media appearance before his scheduled visit to Pittsburgh for an economic summit, C-SPAN cameras captured what appeared to be a bruise on former President Donald Trump’s right hand — sparking fresh speculation across social media.

The moment occurred as Trump responded to questions about the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. While gesturing with his right hand, viewers noticed a pale, bruise-like mark, raising questions about its cause and severity. However, the president did not acknowledge the mark and continued his engagements as planned.

What the White House Says

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, such marks are not uncommon for Trump, who, at 79 years old, maintains a highly active public schedule. In a June statement to Fox News, Leavitt explained:

“President Trump is a man of the people, and he interacts with more Americans and shakes their hands daily than any other President in history.”

She added that vigorous handshaking, frequent golf outings, and the demands of a packed travel schedule can all contribute to minor bruising.

Age and Bruising: A Medical Perspective

Trump himself addressed the issue in his Time Magazine Person of the Year interview last year, revealing that hand bruising has become routine due to his constant interaction with supporters. He noted that he greets “thousands” of people each week and that age has made bruising more frequent.

Medical experts appear to support that notion.

According to the Mayo Clinic, bruising becomes more common with age because:

  • The skin becomes thinner and loses elasticity

  • The fatty layer that cushions blood vessels diminishes

  • Capillaries become more fragile

  • Medications like blood thinners or corticosteroids increase the likelihood of bruising

Social Media Buzzes, But Trump Marches On

Despite curiosity from online observers, the hand mark did not seem to hinder Trump’s activities. The former president proceeded with his Pittsburgh visit without interruption, maintaining his usual energy and demeanor.

As of now, no official medical concern has been raised, and Trump’s team remains firm in their explanation: bruising is simply a byproduct of an exceptionally active life and age-related factors.
